Description
A member of Diana Ross' band for over 20 years and one of the most respected jazz musicians in the Northwest, pianist/organist/composer George Mitchell gathers together with his longtime musician friends to enter the Playzone." Besides being Ross's pianist and keyboard player since 1980, Mitchell has played with such greats as Sonny Stitt, Eddie Harris, and Philly Joe Jones. "Playzone" takes this diverse musical background to create a recording that is grooving, introspective and always swinging! Mitchell's lyrical soloing, unique arrangements and choice of top class sidemen, blend on reworked versions of "Body & Soul" & "Slow, Hot Wind," and a collection of eclectic originals."
