Vindaloo

CB Records is thrilled to announce the latest 7 release, Vindaloo, a groundbreaking collaboration between J.J. Whitefield-legendary force behind The Poets of Rhythm-and San Francisco's renowned DJ/producer titan, Mophono. This dynamic release features two explosive remixes, Vindaloo and Maccheroni, both crafted with Mophono's signature "Skip on Beat" style and capped with killer drum break outro tools for DJs and beat enthusiasts alike. Both tracks are reimaginings of songs originally featured on the first volume of the Madlib Invazion Music Library Series, giving them new life with Mophono's innovative production techniques and gritty funk aesthetic. Known for his love of retro funk and hard-hitting rhythms, Mophono didn't stop at just one remix-he eagerly tackled two distinct reinterpretations of the same project, showcasing his versatility and respect for Whitefield's original compositions. The Artists Behind the Magic Mophono (a.k.a. DJ Centipede) has long been a driving force in the experimental funk and breakbeat scenes, blending retro influences with cutting-edge production. His passion for gritty, percussion-driven tracks is on full display here, cementing his status as one of the Bay Area's most influential producers. J.J. Whitefield, known as the mastermind behind The Poets of Rhythm, has been lauded for his pioneering role in the modern funk revival. Bosco Mann, co-founder of Daptone Records, once described The Poets of Rhythm as "the band that convinced me soul music wasn't dead," crediting their influence as foundational to Daptone's success and the global resurgence of soul music. Together, Mophono and Whitefield deliver a release that bridges eras, fusing the raw energy of classic funk with forward-thinking beats. Don't Miss Out! Vindaloo is a limited-edition collector's dream and an essential tool for DJs and beat heads who crave head-nodding grooves and fiery drum breaks. Secure your copy before it's gone!"
