Beaten by them –

Kinder machines

Beaten by Them's fifth release Kinder Machines could be one of the finest sounding records you will ever hear. Building on the college radio chart-topping successes of last year's thumping Invisible Origins and ethereal follow-up People Start Listening the San Francisco/Melbourne/New York ensemble's latest offering sucks the listener in from the first booming kick never letting go over a joyous ride that was captured and mixed completely live to tape on a Northern Californian farm by Grammy-winning engineer Oz Fritz (Tom Waits Bill Laswell the Ramones). Combining powerhouse drumming and percussion intense bass and electronic layers soaring cello and trumpet lines ever-present keyboards and hypnotic acoustic guitar mantras Kinder Machines is a triumphant musical statement that blurs musical boundaries reaffirming Beaten by Them's critical standing as one of modern music's most exciting creative and surprising groups.
